Team Captain Information

WELCOME TEAM CAPTAIN!

Thank you for your interest in becoming a Team Captain for Angels Among Us. The team captain is the liaison between their team and The Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center. As a team captain, your job is to motivate and encourage your family, friends, and colleagues to join your team and collect donations.  Our job is to give you the tools to make your team captain experience fun and rewarding.

Once you create a team, you then need to give it a great name. Have fun with this…we have some very creative and inspiring team names. Then, send an email to Ellen Stainback with your team information (Team Captain, Team Name, Team Captain email address, street address, phone number, and who the team is in honor/memory of) so it can be added to the team captain list and the Angel’s website. Ms. Stainback will only use your email address to communicate directly with you. The last step is to register your team.

Many teams design a special t-shirt for all of their team members to wear on event day. While this is a fun idea, it is not required.

Tools to help you get started:

• Team Captain Kit—this kit provides you with the steps to create a successful team, fundraising tips and ideas, and sample letters to send to friends and businesses.
   
• Team Sponsor Sheet—We have prepared a sponsor sheet for you and team members to use when asking people to make gifts or pledges to support your team.
   
• Matching Gifts—tell your donors to check to see if their employer is part of Duke’s Company Matching Program.  This is a great way to double their donation.
   
• Event Information—below are links to fact sheets about The Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center and Angels Among Us. This is great information to give out when you approach a local business, corporation, or individuals. We want to keep the public informed about the research, treatments, and care given at Duke.
